     There are believed to be about 200 Nazi ships on the floor of the Danube near Prahovo, Serbia. Ferries, tourist boats and shipping have also become severely restricted due to the drought.

     Unusually low water levels in Budapest’s Danube River have exposed Second World War remains hidden for around 80 years. Recovery teams found the bodies of two Wehrmacht soldiers, their well-preserved identity discs, a German military motorbike, anti-tank mines and other wartime objects near Batthyány Square. The finds could help identify the soldiers and reveal more about Budapest’s final wartime days.

     V roce 1944 explodovala magnetická mina pod německou lodí Wotan u slovenské obce Medveďovo. Zemřelo několik členů posádky a loď rychle klesla ke dnu. Po více než osmdesáti letech její vrak v době rekordního sucha Dunaj odhalil.

     Rekordně nízká hladina vody v Dunaji nadále odhaluje pozůstatky druhé světové války v Evropě. V důsledku letošního intenzivního sucha se z koryta řeky vynořila řada válečných lodí a v Budapešti na dně toku našli i těla dvou německých vojáků z druhé světové války a motorku německého wehrmachtu. Byly tam také identifikační známky vojáků, napsala ve středu stanice BBC News.

     Jeden z mrtvých, jehož pozůstatky se minulý týden našly v Budapešti na dně Dunaje u německého vojenského motocyklu DKW, sloužil zřejmě u Wehrmachtu, druhý u zbraní SS. U ostatků se našly jejich identifikační známky, což by mělo umožnit odhalit jejich totožnost. Samotné známky nestačí, protože nelze vyloučit, že nebyly jejich.
