Wenus jest bladożółta w widzialnym świetle. Jednak zupełnie inaczej widzi się ją w ultrafiolecie. Najnowsze badania wskazują, że nieznane substancje obecne w chmurach Wenus pochłaniają promieniowanie ultrafioletowe w sposób bardzo wydajny lub występują w wysokim stężeniu. Źródło tej absorpcji wciąż pozostaje niewyjaśnione.
