Z Petermannova ledovce na severozápadě Grónska se 4. srpna odlomila obrovská masa ledu o velikosti newyorské čtvrti Manhattan. Jde o největší úbytek jeho plovoucí části od roku 2012. Nově vzniklý „ledový ostrov“ budou nyní vědci sledovat, protože může ovlivnit lodní trasy.
