Obavy z války, lesních požárů anebo kyberútoků vedou k nárůstu objemu hotovosti v oběhu zemí Evropské unie. Hodnota bankovek v oběhu vzrostla z 1 miliardy eur v roce 2016 na 1,6 v roce 2026. Nové údaje Evropské centrální banky ukazují, že počet bankovek v oběhu v EU roste i navzdory rozšířeným platbám přes chytré telefony. Poptávku po nouzové zásobě hotovosti zvyšují i některé vlády, které občany k rezervám peněz v hotovosti samy vyzývají.
