Russia launched about 32 Rassvet low-orbit satellites in 2026 as it works to build its own, domestic alternative to Starlink. Speaking to Interfax-Ukraine, former Deputy Head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) Ilya Pavlenko warned that the network could give Russian drones real-time satellite control, deepen Moscow’s reliance on Chinese technology and further threaten Europe.
